Denis O’Shaughnessy, Ph.D.

Clinical Development

Denis O’Shaughnessy graduated with his first degree in Physiology and Biochemistry from Kings College, London and then with a Ph.D. from the Royal Postgraduate Medical School (now Imperial College), London. He then worked in various international pharmaceutical positions in the UK prior to joining Hoffmann-La Roche in Strasbourg, France, where he took the global lead for the first pharmaceutical clinical program for retinal disease (AMD). Subsequently Denis was a co-founder of Eyetech Pharmaceuticals, which took Macugen from Phase 1 to regulatory approval in less than five years. He has subsequently contributed to the clinical development of a number of novel ocular therapies for Oraya Therapeutics and Aura Biosciences amongst others.
